Our policies at the Lizard which respect the environment:
*We sell only beers bottled in The Bahamas so we can send back the bottles to the brewery for reuse.
*All aluminum cans are crushed and sent to Nassau for the Cans for Kids Program which sells them and uses the money to buy computers for schools within the country.
*We use as many locally grown products as possible changing the menu to compliment the fruits and veggies in season.
*All bags, straws, to-go utensils and containers are completely biodegradable and made from compostable materials.
*Cloth napkins are used in place of paper napkins for in-house guests – non bleached paper for to go’s.
*We use passive cooling techniques such as fans and warm air extractors. Maximum airflow instead of manufactured air conditioning.
*Bottled water is purchased in recycled 5 gallon containers and sold per glass or pitcher rather than selling individual bottles of plastic.
*Fresh limeade and iced tea made daily which not only tastes better, it cuts down on cans or bottles.
*Vinegar, baking soda or other natural cleaners used instead of harsh chemical cleaners.
